When I think of this engagement and proposal, I can’t help but smile. Elliot first reached out to me back in January of 2021 with the intentions of getting engaged in April. From the initial phone call, you could tell he was excited to ask his now fiancée, Sabrina, the big question if she will spend the rest of her life together with Elliot.

Over the course of the following months, Elliot and I would schedule calls on the drop of a dime from using excuses like running to get some milk and eggs from the grocery store to when Sabrina stepped out of the house to run an errand. Somehow over these months, Sabrina did not realize what Elliot had been planning with me.

We went back and forth working out the logistics down to how we would know we were both ready and what we would both be wearing that day so we could recognize each other on location without giving it away. As I write this, I realize that guys have this unspoken language of being able to recognize each other from miles away and communicate without saying a word, so I knew this would be an advantage to us during the actual proposal.

When the day came to ask the question, I stood a few hundred feet from the target proposal site pretending to be a tourist in the heart of New York City’s Central Park (which quite honestly wasn’t super hard to do, but I was still nervous to be spotted). Elliot shared with me his Uber ride status as I stood by waiting for them to arrive. I spotted them quite easily with Elliot’s sharp blue suit standing out amongst the casually dressed tourists in Central Park. He and Sabrina walked directly behind me within 10 feet of me and I thought I would be immediately noticed as the hidden photographer but thankfully I wasn’t and they both continued onto Gapstow Bridge in Central Park, the spot where they had their first date 8 years ago.

I watched from afar and trailed them from 100 feet away while holding my telephoto lens zoomed into a 200mm focal length as Elliot took a deep breath and got down on one knee. The rest is history and you can take a guess what she said based on the photos below.
