Some wedding photographs stay with me because they feel like moments I was lucky enough to notice. That is what makes this recognition so meaningful. Through the Window and Surrounded by Celebration were both honored in the WedAward 130th Collection by the WedAward International Wedding Photography Awards.
This collection included 2,272 photograph submissions from 8 countries, with only 85 photographs selected. I am incredibly grateful that two images by Nicholas Yee Photography were awarded in this collection.
The Power of Perspective

Through the Window holds a quiet kind of emotion. The couple is seen from above, framed through window panes, standing together on a curved garden path. Nothing feels forced. Nothing asks for attention too loudly.
The black-and-white tones bring the image back to shape, light and connection. The trees, architecture and open space give the photograph room to breathe, while the couple remains the emotional center of the frame.
What I love about this image is how still it feels. Wedding days can move quickly, with people, timelines and celebration all happening at once. But sometimes, in the middle of it all, there is a small pause that says everything.
For me, wedding photography is about noticing what already feels true.
A Double Win

I am also honored that a second image, Surrounded by Celebration, was selected in the same collection. This photograph carries a completely different energy. It is full of movement, laughter, bubbles and the people who showed up to celebrate.
The newlyweds are surrounded by raised hands, floral garlands and faces filled with joy. There is so much happening in the frame, but the couple still pulls everything together. Their connection gives the image its center.
Having both images recognized means a lot because they show two very different sides of a wedding day. One is quiet and reflective. The other is energetic, spontaneous and full of celebration.

I am incredibly grateful to have two images included in this collection. Awards are encouraging, but what means the most is knowing these photographs came from real wedding moments with real people at the heart of them.
Why These Images Resonate
These two images resonate with me because they show two very different parts of a wedding day. Through the Window is quiet, still and observant. Surrounded by Celebration is full of movement, laughter and people gathered close.
Together, they remind me why I love photographing weddings. Some moments feel private, like a pause only the couple understands. Others are loud, joyful and impossible to separate from the people who made the day feel full.
If you’ve ever had a moment on your wedding day where everything around you felt busy, but the person beside you made it feel calm, Through the Window speaks to that feeling. And if you’ve ever looked around and realized every person in the room was there to celebrate you, Surrounded by Celebration carries that energy.
That is what I am always looking for when I photograph weddings. Not perfection. Not performance. Just the honest rhythm of the day, from the quiet seconds to the celebrations that fill the room.
A wedding photograph should help you remember not only what happened, but how it felt to be there.

You do not need to perform for your photographs. You just need space to be yourself with the people you love. I will be there to notice the quiet moments, the loud ones and everything in between.

FAQ
What is WedAward?
WedAward is an international wedding photography awards platform that recognizes creative and emotionally strong wedding images from photographers around the world. Each collection includes a selected group of photographs chosen from a much larger set of submissions.
How are images selected?
Images are chosen for more than clean technique. Judges look for photographs that feel intentional, original and emotionally clear. A strong image should hold your attention because of the moment, not just because of how it was made.
Why do you focus on emotion?
I focus on emotion because that is what couples remember years later. The details matter, of course, but the feeling of your wedding day is what gives those details meaning. I want your photographs to bring you back to the people, the energy and the quiet moments you may not have fully noticed at the time.
How do you capture authentic moments?
I stay present, pay attention and give people room to be themselves. Sometimes I offer gentle direction, especially when it helps a couple feel comfortable. Other times, I step back and let the moment unfold naturally.
How do I book Nicholas Yee Photography?
You can reach out through my inquiry page with your wedding date, location and a few details about what you are planning. From there, I will connect with you, answer your questions and walk you through the next steps.
